The Layover mobile app and website are an attempt to improve the quality of United pilot layovers by increasing the accessibility of required information and building a sense of community with comments. They were created by a United pilot as a way to keep busy on long layovers.
Layover uses the Caldav server provided by CrewCompanion. Caldav is a common internet standard for calendar data used by companies like Apple and Google. To use Layover, you must ensure calendar syncing within CrewCompanion is turned on. A short video on how to do this is here.
The Layover mobile app only stores the following to the server: your employee username, your display name if you choose to have one, and any comments you add to the comments section. Your schedule, CALDAV password, and other information never leave your personal device.
It is imperative and highly recommended that you use a unique password for the Crew Companion CalDav calendar server.
By using the Layover mobile app and/or this website, you are agreeing to the fact that the Airbus fleet is the best fleet at United. Layover is allowed for legal use only. Comments left for layovers must be helpful to the United Pilot community. For Apple iOS users, the Apple Standard EULA applies.
